Hi guys!
Section lines are a very important element for product sketching, thats why i decided to do a video on this and share some tips with you. When a surface is to complicated to draw out of a box, the best thing to do is draw a couple of section lines and just go from wherever they take you, wither by intersecting them with perspective lines or with each other. Here is an example of how to apply section lines.

hi karla,
thanks for the tutorials.
im just starting out and this site’s been pretty amazing.
keep up the great work!
is it possible to make requests?
Sure, no problem. But the issue here is that my main project is in spanish, so Im not sure I´ll be able to get to it right away…
great! i understand that youre doing this part time and you have work.
so, when you have a time please take my request into consideration.
my request:
is it possible to do another tutorial on shiny, geometric primitives?
i’m struggling with rendering a cube effectively with markers?
ive watched idcreature’s existing video on reflective objects and would love it if we could expand on that tutorial. it was a great introduction to the basics. a few classmates and i are struggling with rendering them with markers and have found that the cube to be the hardest to grasp, and we’re also trying to figure out how to render the cubes with different textures/materials/levels of reflection.
another one of our questions is also how to render these objects when the horizon isnt visible, we cant always throw in the horizon because objects might be higher or lower or turned away from the horizon.
any help would be greatly appreciated!
thanks,
Jon
Hi Jon, I´m not sure I´ll have that soon for you.. BUT idsketching has that tutorial on cube rendering with markers… it even has the example of three different levels of reflection
no problem, i totally understand that you guys are super busy, and making this website for free is even more incredible!
so, is this the cube tutorial you were referring to? http://idcreatures.com/articles/reflective-primitives/ ?
i was hoping for something more in depth. maybe i missed the cube video.
if there’s a more in depth look at cubes with reflection and the gradation logic that’d be wonderful! =)
