Hi!
Whats the program you use for these drawings?
It´s amazing!!!
Autodesk´s Sketchbook pro =)
Hi Karla, first of all I would like thank you for sharing your knowledge, not many people do that. I have recently completed Aerospace engineering. I intend to develop my own products. So I was looking for design tutorials and stumbled here (glad I did). I am not bad at drawing at all. But I am planning take an competitive exam to study M.Design at Indian Institute of sciences. They require strong drawing skills, and they talk about things like “clarity of lines in the sketch” and things like that which I don’t understand. When they say “strong drawing skills”, I have no clue what they are looking for. I am willing to work hard and learn. I would be really be grateful to you if you could shed some light on fundamentals of drawing/sketching. I am sorry to bother you with such a beginner question but I don’t know any professional and I really want to learn . I want to know how you guys look at drawings/sketches and analyze them. And how do you define a good sketch/drawing and what sort of things you would look for to make that decision? This Would be a BIG help.
Regards,
Keyur Vyas.
Well… those are a lot of questions. I´m glad if I can help in any way.
For me “strong sketching skills” means that you are able to draw whatever is on your mind… in a way that everyone gets a clear idea with just a sketch.
Then… you asked how to analyse sketches… well, I always think of drawing as construction. Because you have to build the product on paper, so I try to always look at a sketch and guess how the designer drew it. Figure out wich lines he/she did first… and which basic shapes are involved.
I hope this helped =)
